Originally designed as a military light observation helicopter, this model ended up being marketed by Hiller after being acquired by Fairchild in 1964 as a commercial helicopter. It was successfull and over 250 were built.

*update* 8-23-03 FH1100 Manufacturing Corp now manufactures the FH1100 and provides any services needed for these! They can be contacted at www.fh1100.com. They also manufacture a newer version of the original FH1100 called the FHoenix and the FH1100 Hornet for military use.
